Hello again

I just can’t keep up, so here are some photos, maybe some story and my application for a bailout having gone blog bankrupt.

Red Fort at Delhi. These archways are hard to photograph, there is so many of them and so much of what we see isn't picked up by the camera lens. I particularly like this shot for the lighting which gives a hint at the beauty of the audience room.

We headed to the Red Fort/Chandni Chowk area by a very modern and efficient underground metro.  On the train we were standing next to another couple, also westerners, they got off at the same station.  No surprise, it is the tourist destination.

Chandni Chowk is part of old Delhi and is renowned for the market. It is an insanely chaotic and busy place and of course at the same time incredibly interesting.

In the Red Fort we see the same couple.  No surprise, it is the tourist destination.

Chandni Chowk is part of old Delhi and has an old market that was a giant traffic jam of bicycle rickshaws, it was crazy and chaotic and hilarious.

The markets themselves were fascinating.  Ask the spices in one area, textiles in another, sweets elsewhere.  We had stopped for some yummy street food in the middle of the insanity.  Sheila isn’t game to drink a lassi as her travel doctor advised against it.  Good, more for me.  Look, there is that couple again.  This time we can’t ignore each other, we all laugh about it, this is surprising as they are German.  Despite our recommending the great food they don’t look impressed with the idea of eating on the street.

It was quite surpassing to see what I interpreted as a nod to Art Deco at Chandni Chowk. I welcome correction or validation by anyone more knowledgeable than me about the genre.

Shopping for a Salwar Kameez for Sheila is proving difficult.  A man shopping with a woman turns out to be as trying anywhere in the world.  Part of the problem is that most outfits are bright colours which work well on brown skin, but not so good for us whities. Despite a seeming infinite combination of colours and patterns, none are quite right.

Back to the metro via a back lane through a market, we cross a park and bugger me, those Germans again! What is the chance of setting the same people 4 times in one day?

This time I jokingly accuse them of stalking us, we all laugh.  Well we did anyway.
